On Tuesday, 19th, 2017, the Arkadelphia Rotary Club and Brookshire’s hosted their annual food drive. The purpose of the event is to help low income families and seniors to have food for the Christmas Holiday. They collected nonperishable food items in the month of November up until the 19th of December for the event.
In the month of November Arkadelphia Rotary and Brookshire’s started collecting the nonperishable food items for the Christmas Holidays. The Family Development staff assisted Mr. Medley getting the word out and gathering names of families that could use the extra help.
The location for the food drop off was located at the Arkadelphia Brookshire’s. On December the 19th at 5 PM The Rotary Club, Family Development (Georgia Sherman) and Mr. Medley (Brookshire’s) filled over 150 food boxes to be handed out to families on December 20th starting at 9 AM. Families are available to pick them up and families or seniors with no transportation were able to get delivered.
By partnering with CADC Family Development Staff, Georgia Sherman, Arkadelphia Rotary, Arkadelphia School System and Arkadelphia Brookshire’s we were able to feed over 150 families. The Family Development staff assisted Mr. Medley getting the word out and gathering names of families that could use the extra help. Brookshire’s and the Arkadelphia Rotary are leaving a great impression in their community and by doing this the group is meeting the goal 3.2D where low-income people engage in non-governance community activity or group support Community Action. Arkadelphia Rotary and Brookshire’s appreciates the Arkadelphia community and other participating organizations that helped them make a difference in the Community. This event was a great success!
